I started this course in my second semester of my college freshmen year, and its taught me alot not just English and writing but also how hard college can be and what is required of me. I had thought that this class would be just like my high school English class and that I could just glide through it like butter, I could have not been more wrong, English is not my strong suit. While writing this essay I am stressing about how close it is to the class ending. My first essay that I started in this class was about the effects of ipads and smart devices on the mind of children, and what steps can be taken to prevent the effects.
I have learned from researching my essay that when kids play on ipads all of the time it can lead to them not being social and a lack of confidence due to not having social interaction with other kids. Which can lead to long term problems with interactions and anxiety which can be seen in recent generations that have grown up with these devices. The solutions I've learned from my first essay was that its up to the parents to put measures in place.
During my time with this essay I have definitely learned the difference between multiple formats and essay types such as research, informative and academic research, with how important time management is when it comes to writing these essays. Along with citations too, my previous classes in high school would just allow us to put only links in as our citations instead of following APA and MLA formats for it, and how important it is for these citations to be in place for when it comes to plagiarism and how that can affect you, and I thank Professor Hammett for teaching these subjects even thought it was a small part of the class that most already know.

In the end I believe that I've learned alot from this class, such as how many epidemics there currently are in the modern world, and the different writing skills that I did not have before taking this class. Even though this class was research essays, it was still really fun learning about these subjects and writing about them with solutions to try and prevent more of the epidemic. I think that i've came a long way with this class and became a better writer because of it.
